Lewin Group engages JDG to conduct search for Director, Federal Health Payment Systems>

The Lewin Group's federal consulting practice helps federal agencies develop and implement new programs and evaluate existing policies for populations such as military personnel, veterans, Medicare and Medicaid Beneficiaries, citizens in natural disasters, and other low income and vulnerable populations. They provide research and consulting services including program planning and development, implementation services, and post-implementation analytics and evaluation.
In the development phase, the Lewin Group performs policy research, systematic literature reviews, and data analysis to assist the federal government in designing programs that improve the health and well-being of the nation's citizens. By using sophisticated evaluation methods and modeling techniques help assess program effectiveness and simulate impacts of policy alternatives to inform policy development, the Lewin Group helps its clients programs improve operations and build the capacity for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* 7 - 15 years research experience analyzing and developing payment systems/methods.
* Experience with research on Medicare payment policy.
* Extensive expertise with Medicare, Medicaid and public insurance policy.
* In-depth understanding of some/all of the following:
o Payment Systems (e.g., hospital, SNF, HH)
o RBRVS
o Medicare data
o DRG Grouping Systems
o APC Payment Methodologies
o Risk Adjustment
Responsibilities:
* Design and direct analyses on development of payment systems and other payment bundling methods.
* Design and direct analyses to evaluate the impact of payment systems and other payment bundling proposals, for example Medicare payment policies, and pay-for-performance proposals.
* Direct statistical and inferential analyses to provide specialized data analyses.
* Present as a knowledge expert results of analysis and capabilities, advantages and disadvantages of different Medicare and other payers' payment methods, including but not limited to payment systems, bundling, and pay-for-performance methods.
* Prepare relevant proposals, pricing strategies and contracting processes; serve as a technical expert for proposal reviews.
* Direct modeling for risk adjustment and other data analytics working with large data sets.
Location: Falls Church, VA
Education: Advanced degree in Economics/Health Services Research or related field
Compensation: Comprised of a base salary, retirement contribution and benefits package
